Our Story
A locally rooted studio, built in and for the North.
Two friends, one shared vision
Qaumajuq Design Studio was founded by longtime friends and business partners Chantel Caza and Kristen Devereaux, who saw an opportunity to combine their complementary skills, experience and connections to create something of their own in Nunavut.
With backgrounds spanning communications, project management, events, design and community-focused work, we recognized a need for a fresh, flexible approach that could bring these services together under one company.
Qaumajuq grew from a shared vision of building a locally rooted business that understands the North, values strong relationships, and can support clients from the early stages of an idea through planning, engagement, coordination and execution.

The meaning behind our name.
Qaumajuq is shaped by the concept of bringing light.
Our logo is inspired by the sun dog, the bright points of light that appear on either side of the sun on cold, clear days in the North. It reflects what we hope to bring to every project we take on: clarity, direction and a sense of connection to the people and place behind the work.
Why we do this work
Our why is rooted in a desire to build something meaningful in and for the North. We are driven by the opportunity to use our skills, relationships and understanding of Nunavut to help organizations communicate effectively, bring people together and turn ideas into well-executed projects.
Our goal is to build a company that clients trust and enjoy working with: one that is collaborative, resourceful and deeply connected to the communities it serves. As Qaumajuq grows, we also want to create opportunities locally, collaborate with Northern talent and businesses, and contribute to building capacity within Nunavut.
Ultimately, we want Qaumajuq to be known for meaningful work, strong relationships, and our ability to take an idea from its earliest stages through engagement, planning, coordination and successful execution.
